What is a Research-Based Argument Essay?
Before we even start writing, we will study the art of making good arguments. We will cast away the negative connotations that surround argument and understand that an argument is an exchange of ideas that lies at the very heart of being human. Arguing, in fact, has been claimed by cognitive scientists to be not just central to human thinking and reasoning but its central objective.
First and foremost, we will understand that an argument is a claim that is supported by reasons and credible evidence. We will be able to trace and evaluate an argument, assessing whether the reasoning is sound and the evidence is sufficient to support a claim.
We will be able to write an argument to support a claim with clear reasons and relevant evidence. We will introduce a claim, acknowledge alternate or opposing claims, and organize reasons and evidence logically.
