Grading Policy for Enrichment Classes
There will be no formal grading in our program. This program was designed to promote creativity, critical thinking, and independence. The goal is to get students to academically challenge themselves and break free of the need to get things “right”. There are no right or wrong answers in our class; there are only possible solutions. We will analyze the evidence present in the world around us and synthesize conclusions that may or may not be similar to our peers. Each student will assess and discuss his/her strength as a learner and areas that we will work to continue to progress on.
Grading Policy for 8th Grade Electives
There will be a points based grading system in our class. These class was designed to promote creativity, critical thinking, and independence in the areas of their choosing (8th grade project) or engineering (Intro to Engineering). The goal is to get students to challenge themselves to be innovative and effective. Students will be able to earn points based on their progress, assignment completions (10-20 points), participation (3 points), and reflections (5-10 points). I will periodically meeting with each student to discuss his/her strength as a learner and areas that we will work to continue to progress on.
