Fourth-grade students should be reading an IRB, independent reading book, for a minimum of 20-30 minutes nightly.

Fifth-grade students should be reading for a minimum of 35-45 minutes nightly.

All students must record their reading nightly in their reading log.  Logs need to be brought home and back to school daily.

Fifth graders are required to write a one-sentence summary of their reading in their log.  Logs are kept in the reading section of the fifth- grade binder or in the homework folder.
