Traditionally, the holiday season is a time to celebrate with family. For many families, Covid-19 has created a dilemma. After consulting with the Bergen County Department of Health, the district wants everyone to understand the required actions as per the State guidelines. Essentially, two scenarios are possible:
An Allendale family travels out-of-state to an area on the NJ quarantine list - Students must quarantine for 14 days upon their return to NJ and receive virtual and/or live instruction.
An Allendale family has visitors to their home from an out-of-state area on the NJ quarantine list - The District cannot mandate a quarantine for this situation. Students do not have to quarantine unless someone in the house becomes symptomatic and tests positive. However, parents may choose to proactively self-quarantine their child if there are concerns about transmission based upon who was recently in your home. Students will receive virtual and/or live instruction if self-quarantining.
Any family aware that their child will be under quarantine, please inform your child’s teachers and building principal as soon as possible. This will enable us to accommodate and plan building and student schedules.
If you are unsure of a timeframe, requirement or any other question, please contact either school nurse. They stand ready and willing to assist.
